Jay Dominick
leads the
Information Technology and Services department at the University of North
Carolina at Charlotte. In this role, he develops
strategy for and directs the operations of the University’s central Information
Technology operations. Areas of
responsibility include Research Computing and Faculty Support, Technical
Infrastructure, Enterprise Information Systems and Student Computing
Support.
Prior
to coming to UNC Charlotte in 2008, he served as Chief Information Officer at
Wake Forest University, where he directed the efforts of the Information
Systems Department, including networking, computer operations, help desk, telecommunications,
programming and systems development. He
was responsible for the implementation and support of the ubiquitous laptop
computing project at
Wake
Forest
which helped
establish a new model for technology deployment in Higher Education.
Current
research interests include mobile computing and electronic textbook
systems. He is a co-founder of
Winston-Net, an award winning community technology organization in
Winston-Salem. Community service activities
include board positions with Second Harvest of North West North Carolina,
Ronald McDonald House of Winston-Salem, and the North Carolina Research and
Education Network. He holds a Ph.D. and
B.S. from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, an MA from
Georgetown University and an MBA from Wake Forest University.
