Formerly Associate Vice Chancellor for Alumni Affairs
and Executive Assistant to the Chancellor for Constituent
Relations, David Dunn was appointed Vice Chancellor
for University Relations and Community Affairs on
January 1, 2006.
Mr. Dunn’s new role is to foster support
and expand UNC Charlotte’s relationships
with governmental and non-governmental organizations.
His responsibilities include working with the
Office of the President on legislative advocacy;
representing the Chancellor in relationships with
local governments; serving as the University’s
liaison with organizations such as University
City Partners, Center City Partners, the Charlotte
Area Transit Authority, the Charlotte City Council,
and comparable governmental entities in the region;
chairing a new University Economic Development
Council; identifying community members in the
broader Charlotte-Mecklenburg region for involvement
on the Board of Trustees, the Foundation Board,
the Alumni Board of Governors, and advisory boards
for the colleges, centers and institutes; providing
leadership for the development of an institutional
communications and marketing strategy and oversight
of a broad range of internal and external communications
activities that promote understanding and support
of UNC Charlotte.
He holds a B.A. in English from UNC Charlotte
and serves on the board of directors for the Cabarrus
Regional Chamber of Commerce and the North Meck
Youth Soccer Association.
